Baroque Boss Battle
I was messing around with Google’s Gemini, and it now has a feature for creating music. One of the options is for chiptunes. So I gave it a description of what I wanted and had it generate something.
The output was rather fun, so I decided to chop it up a bit and fed it to Suno to see if I could mess with it with the covers feature. I decided ot aim it toward creating something with a Baroque musical feel, with harpsichords and aspects of chamber music. Suno, as it so often does, decided ot add drums. Which was actually OK this time.
It hit just what I had in mind, which is unusual for this short a list of “things I messed with.” I had been thinking of the Disney Electric Parade from the 80’s, a creation of Jean-Jaques Perrey called Baroque Hoedown. You can listen to it on YouTube.
I was fascinated with electric music as a kid, and especially fascinated with the overlap in electric music and composers like Bach. Wendy Carlos was an early pioneer here.
I generated the (lousy) video with Kaiber.ai, but I figured it was nice to have something moving on the screen. Video is a pain in the neck to generate. I’ll go a different way in the future. But it does have some weirdness that isn’t completely inappropriate.
